Partner supportive dyadic coping and relationship stability among parents of children with autism spectrum disorder

Studies involving parents of children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) have reported negative relationship outcomes for some couples and positive others, indicating the need to determine moderators link between stress divorce. This study aims examine moderating effect partner supportive dyadic coping, i.e., interpersonal coping that involves providing comfort, empathy, or practical advice one’s partner, on association parental stability among ASD. The was conducted a sample (N=89) who met criteria being in parenting at least one child diagnosed questionnaire included Parental Stress Scale, subscale Dyadic Coping Inventory, an item assessing potential divorce, sociodemographic variables. logistic regression analysis model explained substantial amount variance stability. Higher probability having stable associated lower levels higher coping. Additionally, buffered stress: evident only participants whose partners showed low results indicate does not necessarily end divorce when couple experiences stressful circumstances, such as raising key factor could be prevents effects maintenance. Support services should aim enhance skills parents, advocate fact both are joint processes relationship.
